Privacy Policy

Just Layla (“we”, “us”) is a voice-first AI companion. This policy explains what data we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. By using Just Layla you agree to this policy.

What we collect

  • Account info — your email and sign-in identity, handled by our authentication provider (Clerk).
  • Voice & text — audio you speak and messages you type while talking with your AI companion.
  • Conversation history & memory — your messages, facts your companion learns about you, reminders, notes, saved ideas, and uploaded files you choose to share.
  • Preferences— your AI’s name, chosen voice, personality, generated face and outfit images, timezone, and settings.
  • Device token — a push notification token (FCM) if you grant notification permission, used only to send you check-ins from Just Layla.
  • Technical data — basic device and usage signals needed to run the service (e.g. timezone detected from your browser, error and latency diagnostics).

How we use it

  • To run the voice conversation: transcribe what you say, generate a reply, and speak it back.
  • To give your companion memory so it can remember you across conversations.
  • To personalize your experience (name, voice, face, outfits, mood-aware tone, time-aware greetings).
  • To keep the service reliable and diagnose problems.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use your conversations to train third-party models for advertising.

Who processes your data

To provide the service, your data is processed by these vendors, each only for the function listed:

  • Clerk — authentication and account management.
  • Deepgram — converts your speech to text.
  • Anthropic (Claude) — generates your companion’s replies.
  • Cartesia — converts replies to spoken audio.
  • Replicate / Black Forest Labs (FLUX) — generates your AI’s face and outfit images.
  • Neon — stores your account, conversations, and memory in a secure database.
  • Vercel — hosts the app and stores generated images (Vercel Blob).

These providers act as processors on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy and security commitments.

Family-friendly mode

Image generation runs in a family-friendly mode by default, which applies stricter safety filters to the AI face and outfit images. You can adjust this in Settings.

Data retention

We keep your account data and conversation history for as long as your account is active, so your companion can remember you. If you delete your account, we delete your associated data (account, conversations, memories, and generated images) from our systems. Backups and vendor caches may persist for a short period before being purged.

Your choices

  • You can update your AI’s name, voice, face, outfits, and personality in Settings at any time.
  • Delete your account — go to Settings → Delete account inside the app. This permanently deletes your account, all conversations, memories, and generated images, and cancels any active subscription. You can also email us at hello@justlayla.chat to request deletion.
  • You can stop using voice features by simply not granting microphone access.

Children

Just Layla is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
